Your help needed!
The World Has Changed
Covid-19 has changed the way we all live and work. And for those of us who love Nepal it has been particularly difficult to watch from afar how the nation – with just a fraction of the resources available to countries in the West – has been forced to deal with yet another healthcare challenge.
In the midst of the pandemic Nepal Ambulance Service has seen an unprecedented increase in demand for its ambulances. This heavy increase has stressed the capacity of the Service and placed enormous strain on personal protective equipment.
Friends of Nepal Ambulance have been financing and supporting the acquisition of PPE in Kathmandu from various sources as they become available. With much of the world’s healthcare industry competing for PPE the cost of securing this equipment has escalated.
Friends of NAS are committed to doing all we can to help keep the ambulance crews save during this crisis. NAS is performing wondrously well during this long period of need but the EMTs and drivers have been putting themselves at risk to do so.
Thank you for your interest and hopefully you are able to contribute to FoNAS campaign protecting NAS crews.
Protect Ambulance Crews
Out of a sense duty NAS ambulance crews will respond to calls whether there is adequate PPE or not.
New Models of EMS for Nepal
Friends of Nepal Ambulance Service are committed to the long-term development of quality Emergency Medical Services in Nepal and to exploring completely new models of EMS for a country where the remoteness of much of Nepal’s population in the mountainous terrain beyond established road networks makes access to health infrastructure extremely difficult.
Beyond questions of terrain, FoNAS studies have also shown there are complex traditional and cultural attitudes which complicate the delivery of EMS. We need your support to better understand these issues and implement appropriate interventions to overcome them.
